✦ Little Quest

A SMALL ADVENTURE, STEP BY STEP

A gentle way to practise.

Start with a table you know a little about. There’s no need to race, and no need to get everything right.

1. Choose your numbers

Start with the 2, 5 or 10 times table. Choose “Mix it up” to practise all three. Each quest uses eight different questions, with group sizes from one to twelve.

2. Find your favourite place

Bridge Workshop shows equal groups while you work out the total. Lantern Trail gives you four answers to choose from. Garden Studio puts the numbers into a little flower-growing story.

3. Ask for help whenever you need it

A hint reveals equal groups. Another helps you count the totals. If the question still feels tricky, see a worked example or skip it. There are no lost lives.

4. Enjoy a clear ending

After eight questions, see a snapshot of answers completed on the first try, answers worked through with help, and questions skipped. Complete the quest to earn a decoration for your island during this visit.

5. Call it a day, or explore again

“All done for now” gives every session a comfortable finish. You can also return to the island for another quest. No streak is waiting for you tomorrow.

Take the idea offline

Try putting two buttons in each of four cups. How many buttons are there? Move the cups and count again. Use familiar safe objects, supervise younger children, and connect what you see to 4 × 2 = 8.
